Advantages of WordPress websites
Whether or not you should consider WordPress websites depends on what you need. I try to write correctly about the advantages and disadvantages so that you can make the best decision if you are thinking about a WordPress website.
Be sure to think this through, because you will get the picture in a few minutes, and if you don't know about these, you may be building your house on the wrong foundations and when you want to build on it, you will realize that you have to create a new website, because it turns out that what you paid for is not know what you would like to achieve.
At first, there were only individually developed websites
Anno domini, the websites were created in such a way that the graphic designer designed them, the site-builder put them together based on this, and the web developer added the functions necessary for the various functions. And voila, the website is ready.
This was great, but time consuming and expensive. …because it always had to be built from scratch. Then this also developed further and open source code was available.
What it means? The lines of code, which anyone can further develop (build anything from), have become open and accessible to everyone. That way you don't have to start everything from scratch. In addition, the engine itself and some of the accessories are available for free.
That's when these solutions appeared Joomla or Drupal we call it a system. Then the a WordPress pages, which became the most popular among them and maintains this level. Most websites in the world are made with WordPress, for example, in our country, large news portals, TV2, but the White House, BBC, Wall Street Journal, Harvard University also use this engine.
What is the advantage of WordPress?
A new technology that is constantly being developed the fastest. You can quickly work with it and expand it. WordPress websites can be blog pages, or they can function as an introduction website, but they are also perfectly suited as company pages or webshops.
You can choose any of these functions. Either several or all at once. Since you don't have to program the website or webshop from scratch, you can work with it faster and more cost-effectively.
There are countless descriptions, forums, and videos in Hungarian, English, and other languages, so you can easily learn how to manage it if you want to change something on the website, or you can even build your site yourself.
The most important technical elements of SEO can also be found on it, so there is no need to develop them separately.
In addition to the WordPress site engine, you need a graphic template. There are free ones and there are paid ones, for which you have to pay once or regularly, which are constantly being developed. Obviously, one cannot expect someone to work for free for the rest of their life.
They also give you help. And if you need a function, you can activate hundreds of so-called plugins for free. There are also paid plugins.
This is great because you don't have to pay a web developer or programmer to create the given function for you. What's more, WordPress websites also have an admin interface, so you're not at the mercy of your webmaster, since you have access to your site and can transfer your website or webshop to another company at any time. Individually developed websites are not liked to be taken over by others, because by the time the web programmer finds out, he would rather create a new one for you and may find many errors in the old version. In addition, the client will blame him if the skeleton falls out of the website, which the new developer cannot do.
In summary, WordPress is the most popular in the world, you can work with it quickly and cheaply, and many professionals like to use it. It has an admin interface, so you can edit it too. There are many free extensions and other functions that your website developer does not need to create separately.
What are the disadvantages of WordPress?
Everything has advantages and disadvantages. One of the disadvantages of WordPress websites is that, since it is the most popular solution and is open source, you can see under the hood, which is why they like to hack it.
Since traffic in the online space is constantly increasing, all IT-related devices are affected. Don't think of hacking as your website being singled out and hacked, although this can also happen with the website of multiples with more serious traffic. But they write programs that constantly try to hack the website and not only through the admin login. There is no other website with a motorcycle that cannot be hacked, just as any car can be stolen, and some are easier if there is no protection. The good news is that there are protection extensions for this too and you can restore backups at any time.
Another disadvantage of WordPress can be that since it is constantly being developed by quite a lot of people, they cannot coordinate with each other and the plugins and the core of WordPress can get stuck. This can also happen during an update. This problem can also occur with other operating systems, such as applications.
If you have a reliable WordPress web developer, he will pay attention to this and always find a solution. Obviously there is work to be done with it, but things are constantly changing, especially in the IT world.
If you add too many extensions, or if you choose the wrong graphic template and hosting company, the website can slow down. Because there are lines of code on the website (source code) and your browser reads them. If the line of code responsible for the appearance of your website is written in complicated long lines, the page may slow down.
Fortunately, there are hundreds of plugins and sample pages, and if this is your main concern, you can choose the most suitable one that contains fewer lines of code. A seasoned WordPress programmer can also replace plugins by not using any of them very much, but by programming the given function in a simpler form instead.
In addition, Time Magazine and Forbes also operate with sufficient speed, even though they have quite extensive content, and many people visit these pages.
The problem with WordPress is its not-so-unique-looking and templated appearance. This also comes up, but it's silly because I don't think anyone can tell if page x is a WordPress page or not (by looking at it) without looking at the source code. So why would it be templated compared to other websites, if you can't even notice the difference?
The appearance is also a matter of graphic templates, of which there are also pre-made ones. It can really be clichéd if everyone uses the same thing, with the same text, image, that's probably what causes the misunderstanding... even though there are thousands of them.
But it is possible for the graphic designer to design a completely unique, special website for you in accordance with your exact needs, of which there is no other on the Internet.
What's more, if you only have a general idea for the appearance of the WordPress website, that's no problem either, because the graphic designer will create several designs for you and you can choose the most suitable one that you like best. These can be corrected until you enthusiastically say, “That's it! This is what we need!”
The third solution is to choose from pre-made graphic templates (sample pages), whose content (images, text), order, and function will change anyway, so it is not really possible to recognize the original template at the end. Yet it has a uniform, professional image.
WordPress is therefore a basic engine, of course with the help of a graphic designer any website can be designed with it. What's more, you can have a completely unique developed site using the WordPress core engine.
The WordPress website needs to be constantly updated. This is true for pretty much every website, that you have to maintain it like a garden all the time. You need to update not only the content part, but also the framework, graphic template and plugins. And it doesn't hurt to check regularly if the site hasn't been hacked.
What other solutions can be discussed in relation to website webshop creation?
For WordPress, a WooCommerce you can easily create a webshop with it. But there are also online stores that can be rented. You have to pay for it every month, but in return you don't have to pay a large one-time cost. In addition, no one can intervene in the development, so they pay more attention to compatibility. In such cases, you cannot transfer your website elsewhere, so you depend on the specific company.
Therefore, you are forced to accept the prices. And if there isn't a feature you want, that's how you did it... Although mostly, they expand the range of features over time. However, in the short term, it can be a good solution if you are just trying to start a business or if you intend to do so for the short term, you are not sure yet... However, if you are thinking about several years, then it is worthwhile to be your own boss in the long term and build your own website on your rented hosting.
Summary
If you think long-term, you want to be independent and not depend on anyone and you don't want to create a special software, for example an online invoicing software, then a WordPress website could be a good solution for you.
